Simon started his career in Wellington, including a stint with The Treasury New Zealand – the lead advisor to the Government on economic and financial policy – and then worked overseas in both investment banking and for a software company in the United States, before moving to Alexandra to enter public practice with ICL Chartered Accountants.

Having been part of the ICL team since 2004, he now provides a range of expertise across different industries, including business appraisals, tax planning and succession planning, to compliment the core compilation and tax work that ensures client’s tax obligations are met.

"Being entrusted to help people with their business and achieve their business and personal goals is a real privilege," he says. 

Simon currently applies his professional expertise in the local community as a trustee of Alexandra Community House Trust and as treasurer of Friends of Dunstan Hospital.

He is also a director of the company building a ‘purpose-built’ Countdown supermarket in the town, which will be completed by the end of 2022.

Outside of work he is a keen mountain biker and instigated the ‘Community Hero’ role for ICL to become a key sponsor of the Matangi Station mountain bike park (Matangi Station MTB).
